Car air conditioning - changes to the refrigeration market

CAR AIR CONDITIONING

SOLSTICE® R1234YF - THE TIME IS NOW!

There are over one million vehicles in the UK aftermarket, already using R1234yf refrigerant for air conditioning. This number will increase in the coming months because all new vehicles sold in Europe from 2017, by law, will have to use a refrigerant with a GWP below 150.

Solstice® R1234yf – a low GWP refrigerant

Solstice® R1234yf from Honeywell, offers the best combination of environmental safety and ease of use.  It offers a GWP of less than 1, which is 99.9% lower than R134a, the refrigerant it is set to replace, plus it’s even less than CO2, an alternative refrigerant with a GWP of 1.

R1234yf is a fluorinated gas from the HFO (HydroFluoroOlefin) family of refrigerants.  It has the same cooling capacity as R-134a and offers atmospheric lifetime and fuel efficiency benefits too.

Within the crash repair industry and the aftermarket, you will start to see more and more vehicles coming through bodyshops and workshops requiring this HFO refrigerant, so it’s a good idea to have some in stock now.
