Voiles du Froid 2022: sun, crystal clear water and conviviality, from Bandol to the island of Les Embiez.

On 10th, 11th and 12th June, refrigeration and air conditioning professionals finally met at the Port of Bandal to commence the long awaited 28th edition of the Voiles du Froid. What a pleasure to see the smiles on the faces of the sailors who came from across Europe and elsewhere to share this unique moment in our industry.

18 boats entered the competition which took place on the stretch of water between Bandol and Ile des Embiez, with five races sponsored by Leyton, Mobil, Honeywell, Kelvion, Assurfroid across the three days.

Before the start of the first race, each of the crew members had the opportunity to discuss and understand sailing techniques with their experienced skipper and define their positions.

On Friday evening, in the Les Embiez arena, much fun was had by all. All sailors were proud to share their experiences of the day but above all to offer their own culinary specialities and to exchange ideas between professionals in a lively and musical atmosphere.

In the morning, the participants had the chance to discover the Island of Paul Ricard on foot during the Cigales regatta, where many challenges awaited them; including a race on XXL paddles, a game of articulate and a technical/cultural quiz

The last three sunny legs proved to be more strategic in finding the wind, which at times was slow in coming, and led to a lot of swimming in the crystal clear waters.

Towards the end of the event, several teams stood out: Climat Froid Concept, ITE, Nederger, Dalkia Froid Solutions and the Experts, but it was Friclimat that successfully won several legs and the general ranking. To bring the trophy home for good, they will have to win a second time in the next edition.
